Fell at the first hurdle

I was going to try the 7 day diet....... Big mistake.  I am a much more a savoury person than a sweet tooth.  Today should have been a fruit day.  All I would be allowed to eat is fruit.  Well after demolishing three quarters of a honeydew melon I have had enough.  I have made a big pan of vegetable soup and added loads of chilli and other hot spices. I'm not going to drink my usual gallons of tea but  planning to have small bowls of the soup throughout the day. I probably get through well over a pint of milk each day in cups of tea so that will be an instant reduction in my calorie intake. I need to find some other calcium rich foods and would welcome suggestions.

  1. Have you tried going to Slimming World? I know quite a few people who have lost plenty on that. My elder daughter lost 5 stones and my brother 3 stones.

    1. Hi Alison. In truth I am only a few pounds overweight and will lose it very quickly now that I have cut all the rubbish out of my diet. I do have fairly good willpower but am not a sweet toothed person. I can't cope with only eating fruit but would be perfctly happy on a veg diet.I have looked at some lovely low calorie veggie meals today and can easily incorporate them into my diet. I think I could lose three or four pounds in the next week or two if I stick to my current regime.

  2. Diets don't work for me and have made me ill in the past, I just try to be sensible in the week and have some treats at the weekend.

    1. I think the sensible option is far better. I don't think I am cut out for dieting.

  3. I would have thought the diet would work just as well eating fruit and veg rather than one or the other. I find green tea is lovely without milk once you are used to it and it comes in all sorts of lovely flavours. I like fruit green teas but my favourite of all is ginger green tea.

    1. I would have thought so too so that is what I am aiming to do. I love mint tea and am planning on buying some different varities of mint this year to see if I can taste a difference

  4. Fruits or vegetables sound just fine to me - not that I'm an expert on diets! My son lost quite a lot of weight by eating chicken and fish 5 days, two other days were cheat days and exercising a lot. Of course he's twenty-six. I suspect that it doesn't work quite as well if you're 20+ years older!
